How Much Do I Want to Spend on a UTV?

Start by creating a budget. This will give you a basic price range so that you can automatically eliminate anything that costs more than what you’re willing to spend. Your budget should take into account extra costs like insurance fees, licensing fees, maintenance costs, and the cost of buying UTV gear. These costs might not seem like much compared to the sticker price of the model itself, but they add up quickly. 

What Size of Side By Side?

Bigger side by sides with more cargo space and passenger capacity tend to cost more. On the other hand, needing to make multiple trips just to transport everything and everyone is a major inconvenience. That’s why you should decide early on how large of a side by side you’ll need. 

Where Will I Take the Side-by-Side?

Side by sides are designed to handle off-road conditions of all kinds. However, certain models may be better suited for certain situations than others. For example, rocks can scrape the bottom of your side by side and damage it if the ground clearance is too low. If you plan to ride over a lot of rocky terrain, look for a model with high ground clearance. 

What Features Do I Need?

For example, a side by side that is narrow enough to squeeze through narrow fence gates but still offers a lot of power would be ideal for a farmer. For a hunter, something with a camo paint job that can easily get you into position is probably ideal.
